Complicated homecoming...

It had been years since Alastor had last seen this town, bustling with humans and reeking of demons. It was almost comforting...if not for the fact that he knew his master was here. The master he'd abandoned without a word, who would be fully justified in striking him down for his insubordination. But it wasn't in Alastor's nature to run. He'd had his taste of freedom, now it was time to face the consequences. If he was lucky, maybe he could come out on top this time and be truly free.

But that would be once he entered Devil May Cry, something he would wait until daytime for. He didn't want to catch his master just returning from a demon hunt and ready to shoot anything that had fangs and claws. So in the darkness of the desert night, he stood atop a building across from the Devil Hunter's shop. His senses were attuned for any hint of magic approaching him, but he might not register an ordinary human right away.

The invitation. I was just trying to get you all flustered.

Of course, by now I hope I shouldn't even have to say that I really do like sharing a small space with you.

Yeah well it worked.

Guess not. Though a queen-sized bed isn't exactly a small space compared to say a couch.

Not like I've never spent the night on the couch with you, now is it? Though I gotta say, it's a lot more comfortable sleeping in an actual bed. Not that you see me taking advantage of the extra space, right?

*In fact, he's going to scoot a bit closer again so he can put an arm around her.*

Shut up that wasn't the point.

[She shifts a little to accommodate him and fits herself against him.]

If I fall asleep again I'm holding you responsible for an entire day going down the drain.

Hmm...

*He looks a bit thoughtful as his tail drapes over her waist, wrapping around her like an extra arm.*

Well. We could do something to make sure you stay awake.

[She looks up at him curious and a little amused.]

Such as?

*Well, that's a better reaction than he was expecting. He lets his hand slide up into her hair now.*

I guess that depends on what you're in the mood for.

[She's in a good mood, she can let him get away with one innuendo. Humming a little whem his hand returns to her hair.]

I don't know, suggestions?

Well, I dunno about you, but I don't really feel like getting out of bed just yet. Might not wanna go back to sleep, but I'm enjoying myself here.

*He tilts his head a bit closer, so that his horns are just brushing her bangs.*

[Well he does have a point she is pretty damn comfy as is. And while it would make sense to get up and do something with the rest of the day, it seems pretty boring too.

There's a long moment where Lady worries her lower lip between her teeth. She can guess what he's hoping she'll do next. It's just a matter of deciding if she wants to; not like they haven't been dancing around it for a while now.]

Why do I get the feeling you've done this before?

[Taking a quick breath and saying silent prayer that the choice doesn't come back to bite her in the ass, she leans forward to press her lips to his in a very quick kiss.]

*He returns the kiss as well as he can in that brief moment. His eyes literally brighten, glowing cheerfully as his tail pulls closer to her back.*

I tried a few relationships when I was younger. Never worked out, since I was after different things from any of the demons I got involved with, but you learn how to woo a person even if it's never a good match.

Though, it's never been quite like this.

*And that's when he leans forward to give her a kiss of his own, gentle and light. He's testing the waters, seeing if she's willing to let it linger.*

[It wasn't meant to be returned really, just a quick peck of sorts before she settled back into her respective corner though she's a little surprised he even tried to.

She wants to ask what he means 'it's never been quite like this', but she doesn't get the chance. At first she's very still, nervous at first, she thought the quick peck would be the end of it. It takes a few moments but she relaxes little by little as she gets used to the persistent contact of his mouth on hers.

She's hesitant when she responds, not from lack of experience so much as not having kissed someone she actually liked before. and then she's pulling back.]

What do you mean it's never been quite like this?

*He closes his eyes, playing lightly with her hair until she pulls away. And then she has to ask. He looks a bit awkward as he opens his eyes, even turning his head slightly into the pillow.*

Let's just say...when you're the ruler of your own domain in the underworld, it gets tricky to find someone who isn't just interested in you for political reasons.

[You can't dangle an interesting bit of information like that without her wanting to know what it means.]

Sucks being royalty.

And that's why I just let my brother have the big throne, 'til a certain someone came and snatched it away, at least. I hate all of that political stupidity. I'm happier here, as just another devil trying to fit in with humans, than I ever was ruling the Thunder Hell.

You know you're just proving the whole squishy center concept, right?

Oh shush. So my priorities are different from what you'd expect of royalty, so what? Doesn't make me a pushover or anything.

If you really want me to, I can do that. But I never said it made you a pushover, just that you're a little squishier than I would expect from most demons.

[And just to be an extra annoying pain in the butt she draws her fingers over her mouth like she's zipping her lips.]

Well...I guess I wouldn't be here if I wasn't. Juuuust be glad you didn't know me a year ago, I would've gotten pretty annoyed if you'd said that then.

*Have another cheek kiss.*

But I'm more willing to accept my human-like qualities now.

[She just nods with a little grin on her face as she rolls her eyes. She wouldn't have been any more scared of him then than she was now, though she may have actually shot him at the time. ]

*Oh, he sees the game you're playing. He moves his hand from the back of her head to run a finger along her lips in the opposite direction from what she did.*

Including being really, really fond of some people.

[What game? He told her to be quiet, so she was accommodating him. His finger making her lick her lips after it passes.]

*That gets a chuckle out of him.*

What, do my hands still taste like apples?

[She shrugs as if to say maybe.]

*Just for that, he tugs at her ear.*

I unzipped your lips, you know. You can talk now.
