Complicated homecoming...

It had been years since Alastor had last seen this town, bustling with humans and reeking of demons. It was almost comforting...if not for the fact that he knew his master was here. The master he'd abandoned without a word, who would be fully justified in striking him down for his insubordination. But it wasn't in Alastor's nature to run. He'd had his taste of freedom, now it was time to face the consequences. If he was lucky, maybe he could come out on top this time and be truly free.

But that would be once he entered Devil May Cry, something he would wait until daytime for. He didn't want to catch his master just returning from a demon hunt and ready to shoot anything that had fangs and claws. So in the darkness of the desert night, he stood atop a building across from the Devil Hunter's shop. His senses were attuned for any hint of magic approaching him, but he might not register an ordinary human right away.

Well, it's their problem if they can't appreciate someone who looks a bit different, isn't it? Especially since it's a pretty difference.

Why? I'm serious about liking them.

Because I don't like them.

Does looking a bit strange bother you that much?

It bothers me who I got them from.

[She rolls over and flops back on the bed.]

*He's quiet for a moment before rolling onto his side and putting a hand on her arm.*

I can sympathize with not liking reminders of who you're related to. But sharing an appearance with someone doesn't mean you're the same as them. If anything, hating part of yourself because of a superficial comparison just gives them more power.

Easy to say when your father didn't level a city in pursuit of the power of Sparda, now did he?

...You forget where I'm from? My father was Lord Chronos, the former ruler of the underworld until me and my siblings overthrew him.

My surviving siblings, anyway. He ate all of his 'creations' that disappointed him. And he probably would've leveled a city to get his claws on Sparda's power, if Sparda had existed back then.

[She turns her head, her lips tipped up in amusement.]

So should I be investing in body sized condoms or something?

*And now he's moving his hand from her arm to his face.*

The myths were exaggerated, thanks. I know how to avoid accidental kids. Besides, I can't even turn into a swan or a shower of gold.

[She just laughs and rolls back toward him to pull his hand from his face.]

I don't think the Greeks really cared what you could and couldn't do. And considering the myths can you really blame me for asking?

Come on, do you really think I'm the kind of guy who'd trick my way into someone's bed or leave some poor human to take care of a halfbreed kid on her own?

No I don't. If you were I would have kicked you out by now. Possibly with a few bullet holes to show for it.

Then that right there should tell you the myths are bogus. I won't say I didn't flirt, but...would you believe this is actually the closest I've ever been with a human?

[patricided]

If you tried to say you didn't flirt I was going to laugh you right out of my apartment.

[she tilts her head thoughtful a moment]

You're kidding right?

I'm actually less of a flirt now than I was in my first few centuries. But no, I'm not kidding. I'm sure I could've had the chance...heck, it would've been easy, as the local sky god. But none of those people knew what I really am. It would've been building a relationship on a lie.

[patricided]

I find that somewhat hard to believe. You're sort of incorrigible now.

*Her second comment gets a blush out of him.*

I have honor. I hate using lies and misinformation to get my way.

Never said you didn't. Well not since getting to know you. [At least she could admit it.]

But having some standards of behavior does not make me soft.

You invited me to join you in the bathtub after knowing me all of a month. I'm failing to see the class here.

[she just grins.]

That was a joke, eesh. I wasn't even considering honestly asking you out back then.

And you're just saying that because you've been cuddling with me since last night.
