Complicated homecoming...
It had been years since Alastor had last seen this town, bustling with humans and reeking of demons. It was almost comforting...if not for the fact that he knew his master was here. The master he'd abandoned without a word, who would be fully justified in striking him down for his insubordination. But it wasn't in Alastor's nature to run. He'd had his taste of freedom, now it was time to face the consequences. If he was lucky, maybe he could come out on top this time and be truly free.
But that would be once he entered Devil May Cry, something he would wait until daytime for. He didn't want to catch his master just returning from a demon hunt and ready to shoot anything that had fangs and claws. So in the darkness of the desert night, he stood atop a building across from the Devil Hunter's shop. His senses were attuned for any hint of magic approaching him, but he might not register an ordinary human right away.

"Forget his surprise, I'm stunned. How'd he manage to avoid that?"

She grins at him and just shrugs, "Well not holding me over the side of a tower by my ankle was a nice start."
no subject
He pats his chest, over his heart.
"You don't let things go, do ya?"

And yet if the whole thing was compared to the entire first exchange with Dante they were equally horrible. Simple fact she's horrible at making friends if they have demonic heritage. Absolutely horrible.

Nevermind the fact that he was a big part of the reason that confusion didn't get cleared up a lot faster.

He shrugs, blatantly being deliberately difficult.

And it's working to annoy her as she makes the grumpiest face at him.

It's a flimsy excuse and he knows it, although there really had been some doubt that it really was Trish.
no subject
She rolls her eyes. Seriously because dual-wielding gunslinger with long blond hair that can charge her bullets with electricity and throw lightning from her hands didn't spell Trish in a single breath.
no subject
"Look, she'd been outta town for months. Hearing about her from you was the first I'd heard that she was back. Kinda hoped if it was her, she'd've called or something."
no subject
"What you guys date or something and she break your heart?"
no subject
The answer comes quickly, almost too quickly. This isn't a topic he wants to discuss.
"Me'n Trish...it's complicated, okay?"
no subject
"Right. Fine." There's something in the way she says it though. Almost disappointment or something ringing just under her agreeable tone. No big deal or anything, nope.

He rolls his eyes, though it's partly to hide his discomfort. Hopefully he'll only have to say four words to explain at least part of why his relationship with Trish is such a difficult subject to talk about.
"The job was Mallet."
no subject
"Ah, I see."
no subject
And that isn't even the entire story. But how do you talk about a friend looking exactly like your mother because she was created to lure you into a trap and kill you while your guard was down?
no subject
"So I see."

He grabs a can of beer from under his desk and pops it open, leaning back and putting his feet on the desk as if he hadn't just been thinking about an uncomfortable topic.
"You here for any reason aside from warning me about our new friend?"
Was that a tone of hope to his voice? Nah, it was just him being him, right?
no subject
"Just looking out for a friend while he was out of town. Wouldn't want anyone to get the drop on him after such an exhausting job."
